A feature may either be named, or unnnamed.
Unnamed features are things like post office boxes, which may exist on the map, but are not generally identified individually.
Named features are things like roads, which are often referred to by their name,
Whether a feature is named or unnamed is in the feature's configuration.
In the case of fences, some fences are named, and some fences are not named, making this tricky.
I think a named feature which is missing a name benefits from the "unnamed" adjective, as it lets an OSM editor know there's an issue.
Perhaps you disagree?
Right now some descriptions are like "XXX edited unnamed fence" :-) I think just "XXX edited a fence" would be enough. In fact I can't see for what features "unnamed" would make sense.
