Gamepad compatibility list? #3

Unsure if this should be here, but it would be useful to know what pads and sticks are tested as working and which should not be used for safety reasons. Thanks!

I am not sure that it is an issue, but it is fine to have it here. So far the gamepad used by the users are many and some of them is not even commercial but custom made and all of them worked fine. For some of them I had to create a specific firmware, but none of them had issues with the commodore. My disclaimer is because I discovered that the 8bitdo pro 2 (my controller) charges the battery from the USB and this absorbs more power than the one provided by the Commodore, and when this happens the Commodore shuts down (probably not very healthy). The problem is easily fixable removing the battery from the controller when used with the C64.

Any other controller (I had reports from dozens of users) are perfectly fine, even for non-commercial devices. If you have a specific controller that you want to use you may try to contact me directly (from the site where you bought it) and I can help you with a custom firmware for your game controller, or I can check if some other user reported it as safe (but I am quite sure that it is most of the time).

Thank you! I attempted to try an Xbox One controller over micro USB seeing as it has no battery and would be safe. Didn't seem to work, but I'll give it another shot if you suggest it ought to be compatible. Sometimes you grab a power-only cable meaning to use a data cable.

It should work, but I suggest you to contact me anyway.
