End of an era! I started working on types for Ember (actually in Flow, because it had features TS did not and which Ember Classic required!) almost exactly 7 years ago. In doing a triage pass yesterday on the ember-cli-typescript, I realized that while there is still a lot to be done to take Ember’s TS story from its current state of “quite good, modulo Ember Data” to “really and unambiguously great across the board”, we have actually solved every single issue the Typed Ember team identified back at EmberConf 2019, some 4½ years ago.
I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of that, and grateful to the work done by the rest of the team (who I am only not pinging again because I have already done so quite a few times!). And now: it is time for me to hang up my hat. Today is my last day at LinkedIn, and I am taking a 3 month personal sabbatical to spend time composing music, learning a bunch of new things, hanging out with my family, and generally unwinding a bit. After that, I will be doing something new—details to be worked out in early 2024!—which may not even involve JavaScript and TypeScript at all!
Godspeed!
