DATE 2015: 206 papers ICCAD 2016: 97 papers DAC 2018: 168 papers
DATE is a little bigger
Stale issue message
Again I would like to support DATE to be listed in EDA list. CSranking is metrics-based ranking as stated in the first page of csrankings.org. So, looking into google metrics and some other refs, DATE is definitely as competitive as DAC and ICCAD. Here is the list of google metrics in the subject of "Computer Hardware Design":
https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_computerhardwaredesign
Publication | h5-index | h5-median -- | -- | --
In point of fact, CSrankings is metrics-based, but that doesn't mean everything is defined by metrics. It uses counts of papers published, which are clearly a metric. The selection of publication venues cannot be chosen by metrics; I need to update the FAQ, but in cases where there are disputes, these are settled by surveys that I conduct.
If someone would be kind enough to connect me with the program chairs of ICCAD, DATE, and DAC, I would be happy to start this process.
Dear Cristiana, Dear Franco, Dear Ayse,
I have started the following discussion with Prof. Emery Berger (founder of CSRankings.org) and he is very interested in to proceed this discussion with the program chairs of DATE, ICCAD, and DAC. I was wondering if you could help on this matter to have a conclusion. I appreciate a lot if you could also ask the program chairs of DAC and ICCAD to contribute on this discussion.

Dear Emery, I am Cristiana Bolchini, DATE Program Chair for 2020. Following DATE tradition, this year the acceptance rate is 26% with 196 accepted papers. I will contact DAC 2020 program chair and ICCAD 2019 (just concluded).
Dear all,
I am Mehdi Tahoori, professor of computer science at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (http://cdnc.itec.kit.edu/), and I work in the area of Design Automation and have been publishing at ICCAD, DAC, and DATE. I found the acceptance rate, impacts, and quality of them very similar, so DATE is really missing in the list, as a top-tier conference in design automation.
The program chair of ICCAD2019 was Yuan Xie yuanxie@ucsb.edu. The program chair of DAC2020 is Joerg Henkel (henkel@kit.edu). The program chair of ITC2019 was Anand Raghunathan raghunathan@purdue.edu.
with best regards, Mehdi
Hi Hossein, DAC 2020 program chairs, Anand and Jorg, are cc’ed in this email. Thanks, Ayse

Hello Ayse, thanks for including Anand and myself. We look forward to contribute to the discussion. Hossein, we noticed that the DAC acceptance ratios (under the github link below) are incorrect. DAC had consistently acceptance ratios below 25%. Thanks and best, Joerg

Dear all,
resume data of all conferences are available on IEEEXplore, thus it is easy to make comparisons. For example looking at the 2019 editions (see attached):
DAC: 815 submissions, 202 accepted, AR 24.8%, 50+ technical sessions
DATE: 834 submissions, 202 accepted, AR 24.2%, 58 technical sessions
DAC is much more extended in the exhibition area, but from the technical point of view the two conferences are equivalent. This is also confirmed by looking at citation indexes . Regards,
Franco

Dear Joerg,
Thanks for your reply. Of course, the exact acceptance rates can be reported by the program chairs of DAC, DATE, and ICCAD. I just reported the numbers I could find in different websites. The average acceptance rate reported by ACM for DAC over 28 years is 29%. But in the recent years both DAC and DATE have almost the same acceptance rates (near 25%).
https://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=3061639&picked=prox&preflayout=flat
Thanks to Franco for sharing the acceptance rates of DAC2019 and DATE2019.
Thanks! Hossein
Dear all,
I am Akash Kumar, professor of computer science at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, leading the chair of processor design (https://cfaed.tu-dresden.de/pd-about), and I work in the area of Design Automation and have been publishing at DATE, DAC, and ICCAD regularly. I have found the quality of the papers accepted, the acceptance rate and overall impact of these three venues comparable. DATE should really be added to this list in order to make a fair evaluation of one's contribution in the area of design automation.
Kind regards, Akash
Hi - while I appreciate this feedback, please be aware this issue is not intended to act as a place for a petition for inclusion (a petition if anything would be counter-productive). Thanks.
What I will do is run a community-wide survey, via a survey to be mailed to recent PC members of the "indisputably top" conference(s). Based on the data and its status, it seems to me that DAC would be that conference.

Sounds like a great idea!
I was wondering if there is any ongoing action on this issue as I received a closed issue notification today.
Dear Emery, Could you give an update on the survey status? As the past chair of ACM SIGDA and a past DAC chair, I would be happy to help with the survey effort if needed.
I would highly recommend adding Design, Automation & Test in Europe Conference & Exhibition (DATE) to the design automation list. This conference has very similar quality as DAC and ICCAD. Of course, the expert opinion matters more than just numbers and I would suggest to get opinion from experts in design automation, if there is any doubt. Here is a short comparison of DATE vs. DAC and ICCAD (google metrics and acceptance rates).
Google Metrics: Computer Hardware Design Publication | h5-index | h5-median DAC 46 64 DATE 43 58 ICCAD 30 40
Acceptance Rate: 2015 | 2016 | 2017 DATE: 22% | 24% | 24% ICCAD: 25% | 24% | 26% DAC: 29% | 29% | 29%
