Trying to package this program for nixos https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/48139, should I use substudy_v0.4.5 as the latest release ?

Yes, that's the latest official release of substudy, if you choose to build from the GitHub source and not the official crates.io release package.

I have no idea how Nix handles Rust, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

ok thanks. I was just confused b the many tags with different names, usually it's just a plain number like 0.45.

Yeah, this repo actually contains about 6 different (related) Rust crates, and so I tag all the releases separately. My apologies for the confusion!
