WOW @ Mitchell. Since you guys met so early in the week following midterms, it makes sense that you haven't made many changes. It's great that you're starting to think about what kind of visualizations will be most effective for your data, I find this part of the process to be fun, but overwhelming myself. You guys could look into similar visualizations to the radar chart, like the parallel sets or parallel coordinate plots, and see if their drawbacks suit your data better.
This week we had our meeting on Tuesday rather than Friday because Mitchell wants to spend half of his week playing in the woods. Since the meeting was earlier there are not many changes to our project past what we did for the midterm.
We completed the markup for both our English and Serbian sources. We must now begin thinking about the interactivity of our site and how we want to display our data. Mitchell was interested in using a radar chart, but it could be artificial if the objects around the perimeter are not in a logical order. So we need to figure what sort of graphics will be most useful for our data.
The questions we are keeping in mind when analyzing our data is how the singers of Serbian women's songs refer to men and women differently? Do the descriptions vary depending on the role the women occupy in the poem, i.e. romantic, familial, or general? We also need to begin to focus on the interactivity of our site and more specifically in the reading view.
Daniel will work on centering the menu and alter his XSLT6 assignment once Mitchell pushes his, which will show him how to deal with the counting of the poems. Emma will think and map out the layout of the site (the interactivity we want with the poems). Do we want one long doc like in the homework assignments, or something more similar to the Russian fairytales site?
