April 5th Project Update #29

At this week's meeting we discussed whether or not we should end up using XQurey like the other Serbian project. We decided with the limited time left we should focus on other aspects of our project such as graphics and our project write-up.

For the reading view of the songs, we are thinking of using a combination of different text and background colors to distinguish gender and our other themes. We are considering a stacked bar chart for comparing the ratio of negative-positive for feminine nouns and adjectives, as well as for the masculine ones.

For next week Emma is going to work on the XSLT for the serb songs and rewrite and update the research goals. Mitchell is going to clean up the anthology XSLT and update it with <span> to indicate the different themes we focus on, and begin the writeup. Daniel is going to table our data, which is the main priority, work on a fast and basic graph for developmental purposes, and work on the spans for highlighting.

Sounds like you guys are working on a lot of finishing details, which is very exciting! A stacked bar chart sounds like a really effective visualizations for your data. Looking forward to what comes next!

The combination of different texts and background colors sounds like a good way to distinguish the themes, maybe using bold and italicized text might also help with that possibly? You're website looks amazing and I cant wait to see how it pans out!

I did the table and the graph with all the mark files that @emmamamula and @MLuckman did already.
