HelloSwitcher still relevant even for Windows 11 #12

Just wanted to leave a comment in response to the note you have for Windows 11 users. I have multiple USB cameras connected to the box, and this utility has been a god-send to manually choose the one Hello should be using. Thanks again.

Also wanted to say the same. I just purchased the new LG Gram which has a built-in camera that supports Hello. I purchased a Logitech BRIO for Hello when I dock the laptop and use it in desktop mode. I was very disappointed that it would not work and the only way I could get it to work was to manually disable the built-in camera. But then whenever I undock, I have to re-enable the built-in camera. Even with the lid closed, it still tries to use the built-in camera. I came across this project and was concerned when you stated that this tool was no longer supported. I tried it anyways and it works great!!

Thank you so much and keep up the good work @emoacht 👍Hopefully this project will stay alive until MS issues a fix for Windows 11.

Adding my hat to the ring. I have a new Dell Precision 5570 w/ a dock. I have my Logitech Brio plugged into the dock. Sometimes it will recognize the USB camera when the laptop is docked and use it, but typically it will keep trying to use the built in camera even when the lid is shut and the USB camera is attached.

After some googling the only answer I could find was to disable the internal webcam. I was just about to write a script I could trigger that would do exactly what this program is doing. I am really glad this GitHub project showed up as about the 5th link on Google for "Windows 10 pick which camera to use for Windows Hello". It just saved me a ton of time.

Just want to echo what everyone else is saying, just got an LG Gram & Logitech Brio and the native switching behaviour in windows is awful however, after setting up this program everything was solved! Thank you so much @emoacht!!
