Is your feature request related to new functionality not yet included in the product? Please describe. New functionality. Our new video block will be used for the stand-alone Records Management site, but the other libraries have shown keen interest in using it to display their own videos or playlists on their site.

Is your feature request related to a problem or a change to existing functionality? Please describe. Both Health and Business would like to utilize the new video block to display their videos on their site pages. Business in particular is interested in displaying a playlist, if possible.

Describe the solution you'd like Configuring the block to filter by tags (currently not used for Drupal content)

Describe alternatives you've considered Adding separate video components to pages, which won't open up in a pop-up window like videos displayed via the block.

-setting up Drupal view for specific library/location content

-Displaying YouTube playlist within a page Example: https://youtu.be/ckEz2WTCjh4?si=N6SiJu5ElAyEa26W

How will this impact users? Media content could simply be tagged by a user, which would automatically add it to the block display. The webpage will have a clean, inviting look, and users won't have to scroll down a long display.

Additional context Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

Since the video modal block was designed very specifically for the Records requirements, it would be a lot of work to make changes to it. If we can explore other ways of doing it, it might be easier. An option of have featured video(s) is very doable. It sounds like the pop-up video feature is what people really like, but we might have to explore different ways of doing that. Chris Handley (Business Library) provided an example of a page he had previously designed that featured four tabs or pages of themed video content (for reference):

@cwbragg do we have a list of the taxonomies to add? Is it just location or also topic/etc?

cwbragg commented 7 months ago

@maxdmayhew Just location so far, but I wonder if the web group can decide on a few topic taxonomies?

Examples: Business one-minute interviews, building access, services, etc.

maxdmayhew commented 7 months ago

Awesome, I could add just location to start if you wanted to have the feature sooner rather than later and then add the topics when (or if) we want to later.

cwbragg commented 7 months ago

That's a good idea! Let's do it.

I had a follow up conversation with Chris Handley on the possibility of displaying separate videos automatically pulled from a YouTube playlist. He's utilized this elsewhere, but I don't think that was Drupal.

That would be pretty nice, particularly since we're wanting to use playlists to batch content on the libraries YouTube site, and the Business Library already has a good batch of playlists going.

From today:

I will move this to blocked, since a czar conversation on the taxonomies is needed.
