java.net.SocketException: Socket is closed #804

Describe the problem.

I am using the Google Latitude API library found here 
(https://code.google.com/p/google-api-java-client/wiki/APIs#Google_Latitude_API)
 which of course references and is built around the java client libraries.

I perform INSERTs to the current location object.   However, an extremely small 
number of users are experiencing an issue during the insert call:

java.net.SocketException: Socket is closed

For these individuals, everything works fine when they are connected to their 
wi-fi network, however, over their mobile data network- they always receive 
this error message.
Is there check that can remedy this or any course of action to take for this 
small small number of users?
