Interface is very sluggish

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the update panel
2. Start typing a message

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the message i'm typing to show up at the normal speed that a word
processor or any other program which accepts textual input to display it. 
Instead it lags far behind.  I only type about 35-40wpm and when i finish
typing 10-15 words, i have to wait 2 or 3 seconds for them to actually show
up in the display.  This is an unacceptable delay.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Witty v2.1 on Vista Business

Should be fixed in next release. That was usually caused by updates to the 
friends 
list. I fixed that so it shouldn't slow down the interface.

i'm on 2.4.0.18444/xp pro sp3, same problem. perhaps related, the gui is often 
very
glitchy. see attached.
