"lbs" validates, which is incorrect

The pound (unit of mass & force), like the ounce, uses a symbol, not an abbreviation for its unit. As such, it cannot be modified to be pluralized to "lbs" (which would mean "pound-seconds"), just like "ozs" is not written for "ounces". It seems like "lbs" currently validates in the dictionaries, but it shouldn't; it should just be "lb".

I agree. I not sure why it's there, I can't find any valid use for lbs as an abbreviation.
