Hi, open a web browser, and go to http://localhost:631/. The Cups site should
appear, once in there navigate to printers, Add printer, system will prompt you
to input username and password which are the same as when you login to your Mac.

Once you do this, another screen will appear. In here you'll have 3 fields, one
for the name, (Printer's name or model), Location (where the printer is placed,
in this case the NAS), and Description ( For informative purposes)

If your printer is an HP, you should select Appsocket/HP Jet Direct, and then
proceed to the next step.

In here you have a field that says "device URI" and by default it says "socket"
simply change it to socket://hostname:9100, Hostname being the ip to your nas,
and the port number should remain untouched, For example:
socket://192.168.1.100:9100.
once you do that, proceed to the next step. Now you need to select the model of
your printer, click on your printer's manufacturer, select the model, and
you're done.

If you like you can print a test page to make sure it worked.

Also if you go to system preferences, printers and fax, the printer will show
up.

Good luck!

Same problem here with MacOSX 10.6.7 and HP Laserjet P1005.

The CUPS trick doesn't fix it.

Thanx
