Have you thought of translating the GUI? I can give you a hand with Spanish

Not sure that do you mean exactly. Do use simple text editor for your 
translation? Try special program Qt Linguist, it is more convenient.

For a note: I am not the author of this program, but just the Debian maintainer 
of related package.

That's what I was looking for! I'm not familiar with QT, linguistics or anyting 
of the like... so I just took the German translation ts, opened it with gedit 
and modified the <translation> tags one by one... I feel like a caveman now :S

Hope it's usefull nonetheless.

Yes there is a full framework for translating GUI. Anybody can make a 
translation using standard Qt translation tools.
