lftp to webin freezes at `ls' at 0 [Logging in...] #1

Dear Rasko, I found that accessing webin.ebi.ac.uk from Linux does not work as described in your http://ena-docs.readthedocs.io For example, I found (or rather suspect) that feat-negotiation and ssl-encryption need to be disabled to get anywhere near logging-in.

lftp -e 'set ftp:use-feat false; set ftp:ssl-allow false' webin.ebi.ac.uk
lftp webin.ebi.ac.uk:~> login Webin-44164
Password:
lftp Webin-44164@webin.ebi.ac.uk:~> ls
`ls' at 0 [Connecting...]
`ls' at 0 [Logging in...]

However, even then lftp freezes at the last line. Could you please provide a solution as to how Linux users can connect with webin.ebi.ac.uk via lftp. Thank you, Michael

Hi @michaelgruenstaeudl,

did you solve the (l)ftp question? We upload to ENA via FTP on a (almost) daily basis. All we set is ssl:verify-certificate no. Maybe this helps.

I have the same issue: After the ssl negotiation lftp sends a

---> LANG

... and that is the one that hangs
