UX for displaying reputation on profile page

After attending a gathering with only two people, the attending people lost all reputation. They registered and the App showed (correctly), that they are Newbies. When checking the reputation in the setting, it was still at 5.

This is an educational/UX problem. The reputation in the profile page shows the reputation that was earned including the burned ones aka the ones used for registering.

When you register and can not perform the meetup, you burn the reputation for registering, but you don't lose it.

First: There are no "educational problems" ;-). Thank you for explaining, but I don't get it. This is how I understood it:

• Reputation determines my status (Newbie vs. Reputable)?
• If my Rep. > 0 I am Reputable?
• I can get my Rep. up to 5 by participating regularly
• I lose Rep. for not participating
• I lose Rep. for not showing up

Now there is the burning vs. losing. And what determines if am Reputable? From my pov, we need to abstract lot's of complexity away, already without the burning reputation.
