enhancement: Additional "unpark" button for planet only #3855

Closed Kriegstofu closed 6 years ago

Kriegstofu commented 6 years ago

When having many ships for different purposes (i.e. Trading Fleet and War Fleet), Adding a Button to unpark all Ships in the Current System/Planet could be an aid in faster fleet management

in a similar fashion, an option to make groupings of fleets so one could unpark/park a group (up to 3 groups maybe?)

ReimeiSky commented 6 years ago

This can already be done, just ctrl-click to simultaneously select individual ships, or shift-click to select entire groups at a time.

gunqqer commented 6 years ago

True you can do that, but you have to either have a common name scheme (Fighter $Designation $Name Cargo $Designation $Name) or always move your ships in the same place in the list. Having a grouping system that you can place the ships in easily, or hell, tags, would be nice.

Don't know if it's worth all the effort for this 1 problem, if more can be found that can be solved through something like that then maybe it is a good idea

MCOfficer commented 6 years ago

this could be done similar to the number multipliers for buy buttons. e.g you hold shift, and the "unpark" button changes to "unpark on this planet" (and the "park" button likewise)

You can press control + any number key to assign the currently selected ships to a hotkey, and then press that hotkey later on to select that group again. That works not only when you're in flight, but in the shipyard, outfitter, and player info panel. So, just assign all your freighters to a hotkey, then in the player info panel you can press that key and click "Park."

since when have we been able to assign ctrl groups?

It was actually added in version 0.9.5.

Cerebrate-Daggoth commented 6 years ago

huh. i'm gonna have to try that sometime. you'll know if i can't get it to work.

Tested it like described above. You have to select your fleet while in Space and then press CTRL+Any of the numbers above the regular keyboard (not on the numpad)

Later on you can just call up that Number in fleet screen (press 1) to select all those ships to unpark them or park them
