It would be nice to have the option to force playback of videos in 4k res even if the system display resolution is set to a lower resolution (1080p). The reason being that upscaling of the kodi gui on a 4k screen looks much better if done by the tv itself rather than the playback device. Maybe it could work the same as with the kodi native playback: switching resolution to 4k when playing back a 4k stream and switching back to 1080p when the video is stopped?
