Even worse - I believe the speed for the current Energia SPI library for Tiva tops out at 4MHz?
In fixing this - is it desirable/necessary for the Energia SPI library on Tiva to continue to produce the same speeds as it currently does when given the SPI_CLOCK_DIV2 arguments? (i.e. does it need to be kept backwards compatible, either with those macro names, or with the actual argument values to setClockDivider, or is a patch which changes the meanings okay (e.g. to make them more compatible with Arduino, MSP430 or CC3200))

Same feature request for the MSP432, especially with the Kentec 3.5" SPI screen.

SPI speed tops at 8 MHz while MCUs have much faster clock speeds —e.g. 80 MHz for the LM4F120 / TM4C123 and the CC3200 120 MHz for the TM4C129.
How to get 16 MHz for SPI?
