Dell Vostro 2520 laptop Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS WhatsApp-for-Linux 1.6.4

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro phone, model M2003J6B2G MIUI Global 14.0.3.0 Android 12 SKQ1.211019.001

iPhone 11 MWLU2X/A iOS 17.2.1 Safari 11

I tried to follow the instructions for linking WAfL (on my laptop) to WA (running on my Android smartphone). But, after using the phone number method of linking on my smartphone, WAfL was linked to Safari on another person's iPhone. This also occurred when using the QR code method. The owner of the iPhone was using WhatsApp for iOS when I tried linking with the both the telephone and QR methods.

Hope this helps the dev team, and meanwhile I will try another Linux WA client.

If what you mean is that on your phone it says it is linked to whatsapp on ios, it's probably because whatsapp-for-linux uses webkit which is primarily used in safari and thus on ios devices. So as long as you only have one linked device and you can access your whatsapp trough whatsapp-for-linux it should be nothing to worry about.
