Reports of game stalling and crashing on Firefox and Safari #228

The game seems to stall and crash for those users who have Firefox (note one student using Safari also had problems)

It would be GREAT to get better reports of what is happening on those systems, because "it works fine for me" (which it does) is not helpful for them, and "I can't get it to work" (with no other information) is not helpful for me.

Since I can't be there in person to debug, here's what would help for each instance:

  1. Username of the player experiencing this problem
  2. The operating system and version they are using (e.g. Windows 7, OSX Yosemite 10.10.2)
  3. The browser version they are using (e.g. Firefox 35.0.1, Safari 7.1)
  4. Have they ever been able to successfully load the game before, on the same system and browser combination? If so, is this a sporadic problem (that is, it doesn't happen all of the time, but only some of the time)? If it worked before, and now doesn't work, approximately when did it stop working?
  5. Have they been able to try this on a different system or browser, and did it work then?
  6. Are the problems being observed on a wireless connection or a wired one? Do they have different results on a different wireless connection?
  7. What are the exact steps to reproduce the problem? Does the game stall or crash immediately upon logging in? Does it happen sometime inside the game? If inside the game, are they able to reproduce the actions that causes the game to crash? Can they describe what part of the game they were in, what they were trying to interact with, etc?
  8. If the student able to open the browser console and see if there is a problem reported there? Not all people feel comfortable doing this and that is okay, but if they have the inclination to do so, a screenshot or a copy-paste of any error message in the browser console will help narrow down the problem IMMENSELY well, rather than back and forth wild-ass guessing as to the problem.

Hope that helps!

Lou,

I will try to get this out of players. Sorry about not being more specific.
