MMS Enhancement Request #12

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
A very useful feature would be to include MMS backups with the SMS, I
already forward most of my MMS messages to my gmail account anyway because
it's easier to work with the photos on the computer until the G1 gets some
better image viewers.

I'd like to say that I am impressed with your implementation, it worked
fine with my Google Domain Apps address that doesn't end in @gmail.com.
You also exported the date and timestamps which will make sifting through
these messages much easier. So thank-you very much for a great app!

Thanks for the kind feedback!

It seems MMS is the number one feature that people want to have added to this
application.

The problem is, however, that MMS is not working with my provider, so I won't
be able
to test this thoroughly. Also, I think there's no MMS emulation provided with
the SDK
tools, which again makes testing harder.

The SMS/MMS provider is able to provide access to both types at the same time,
so
adding MMS support should be possible without changing the whole backup logic.

There is already one developer (who is new to Android, though) looking into
this. But
any help from someone who has already tinkered with MMS would be much
appreciated.

I agree - MMS support and the ability to restore and this will be a killer app
:)

Thanks for all your work :) (oh and support for non-english chars in contact
names as
well) hehe

MMS is important not just for pictures...also for really long text-only
messages...
when you type enough text, it becomes a single MMS instead of a series of TXT
messages... so involved conversations lack the most meaningful fragments...

By the way, I'll be glad to pay for your tool if it could backup SMS / MMS /
CallLogs
to gmail ...

Sorry to jump in late, but can I put in a request for this as well?
As is mentioned in comment 4, after 3 SMS messages it gets converted to MMS
automatically (and with no obvious way of turning it off) so a lot of critical
paragraphs are getting lost.

Other than that, many, many thanks :-D

This would be a great additional feature in any future update.

I would be willing to pay for this feature. Is it anywhere near being ready?

As far as I'm aware development stopped on this app a while ago but another
developer carried it on. Look for sms "backup +" on the market.

MMS is supported :)
