One feature I've been missing in WhatsApp from the start was to send pictures out of an integrated websearch. This would be especially handy for memes.
WhatsApp features such a function when adding a thumbnail image to a group conversation. You can upload/take a photo or use an integrated websearch.
When they added GIF support, they implemented such a feature. Sadly, it only works for animated GIFs, not static pictures.
