Make transition from SS 1.0 to SS 2.0 #133

Allright, here's the ticket! :)

For this, I'd like to migrate over any accounts from SS 1.0 to SS 2.0 that have recorded a bet in the last 2 months. By migrate over, I mean keep usernames, passwords, and bet history intact.

Also, in order to not break our awesome sagestats rankings, let's do this: Have the "register" page on sagestats.com redirect to the sharpbettracker register page.

We can have a page in the middle with a short message saying:

"We've changed our name! And we've updated our software to make life easier for you! Entering in bets is easier, analyzing your bet history is easier, and grading games is faster!

Please click here if you're not automatically redirected to the registration page on our new site."

Actually, come to think of it, we should prob also do something similar for the log-in on SageStats that people encounter whenever they try to log in and use the site. We can let them log in, and then try to sign in to SharpBetTracker with their credentials. If successful, bring them to their view bets page on SharpBetTracker. If unsuccessful, bring them to the register page.

The message can be pretty much the same as above, except it should probably say "click here if you're not automatically redirected to your new personalized SharpBetTracker page."

Any objections?

It will be a pain for me to keep the password for users. Could I give them a temporary one and maybe email them?

ensignlee commented 13 years ago

Yeah, that shouldn't be a prob. We'll have to create an interface for them to change passwords though, which is something we don't currently have.

The transition script looks mostly done. This is what we are looking at BTW. Its going to be 95 bets for these users

Each has a generated password that will be set for the account. What do you want the email to say so I can send it out. When do you want to do this. As well.

SS1 user bookieslayer = SS2 user highriskhighreward.

This is the guy who made a zillion bets in SS1 and who did really well doing it. I talked to him and he said that if possible, he'd like all his bets to be in one account on sharpbettracker named "bookieslayer." Can we do that?

ensignlee commented 13 years ago

I sent you an email with the email to send out to active users.
