.deb ente photo app won't launch on Ubuntu 24.04 #3569

Description

I installed the latest ente .deb on Ubuntu Linux 24.04 and it won't launch. This is the error I get when launching in a terminal:

[44920:1003/220145.233247:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(158)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/ente/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755. Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

The tldr/workaround from the existing issue - sudo chmod 4755 /opt/ente/chrome-sandbox
