Maybe this pull request is too "granular" but efficiency will improve with more experience.

As long as this pull request stays open, you can add on to it with more commits to your patch-1 branch. Also, don't worry about lots of little commits to the PR, because when I merge I can "squash" all of the individual commits down to a single change that produces the same transformation.

I'll hold off on merging this so I can do it live during the Thursday check-in
