GDPLE now uses a number followed by the letter "x" and a direction to indicate how far off a guess is. However, the logic is not consistent. Today's state (2024-10-31) was Washington. When I guessed New Jersey, the game said I was "0.98 x" away, but when I next guessed Michigan, the game said I was "1.19 x" away, which would indicate that Michigan is further west of Washington than New Jersey. Furthermore, Oregon was "2.48 x" south of Washington, while Arizona was "1.55 x" southeast of Washington. These responses from GDPLE do not appear to be consistent.

Dear valued player,

The GDPLE team appologises for the miscommuniation: the second item in the guess row refers to not a distance multiple, but a GDP ratio. While this is mentioned in the gdple.iainschmitt.com/about page, this could have been communicated better. In this example, New Jersey has an economy slightly larger than Washington while Oregon's economy is far smaller than Washington's

As always, thank you for playing GDPLE!
