Package: synergy Version: 1.2.2-1 Severity: important

My config:

I can't get capital letters (using shift or caps lock) inside VMware. Instead I get nothing. I can get "a" but not "A". Capitals letters works fine in the other applications on host B.

The problem is the same if I run Linux or Windows inside VMware.

I used xev(1) in a Fedora Core 4 installed inside VMware and I have:

I don't have the problem if I use x2x [2] instead of synergy.

Thanks,

Hi.

You reported a bug against synergy some time ago.

I now uploaded a new version to testing (1.2.7-0.2) and unstable (1.2.8-2).

Is your problem still present with these versions?

Cord

The problem is still present.

Tested with synergy_1.2.8-2_i386.deb locally recompiled on Ubuntu.

It is OK in a gnome-terminal, xterm, etc but I still have the same problem in a vmware.

I also noted that Control-Alt-Del does not work when vmware has the focus. I guess it is a similar problem.

I tried with --debug DEBUG2 but it is very verbose and I don't know what to look at.

You can use VMware Player (free as in free beer) [1] and use one of the pre-built available GNU/Linux images [2] to debug yourself (or upstream).

Thanks

Exact.

The problem is not very urgent for me since I am happy with x2x for now.

Thanks,

The problem is still present.

I tried version 1.3.1-2 available from unstable and backported to etch and the problem is still present.

Not sure if anyone still monitors this, but I have the same problem with Synergy in a pure Windows XP environment and replacing VMware with the MS Terminal Server Client (aka RDP).

If I RDP to a Server from my Synergy Server, Shift Key works as expected.

If I RDP to a Server from my Synergy Client, Right Shift key does not work but left one does.

Both Shift keys work in all my other regular apps on both Server and Client.

I have seen the same problem however using pure MS products and no Synergy.

Using MS NetMeeting, connect to another party.

Have the other party open a Terminal Server connection to a remote XP Machine or Server.

Open App sharing and then have the other person share the TS Window (or full desktop) and enable ability for you to take control.

Request control and then click into the Terminal Server window and try to use the shift key.

I have found it will not work and I have to ask the remote person to hold shift and type any special characters needed in passwords, etc.

Upstream has changed hands, and this bug's new home upstream appears to be the link above. The SourceForge bug appears to have been imported, then closed as too old.
