layman add doesn't work, and returns error #1

Thanks, I've removed it from the doc's. layman has been depreciated for a while. I'd suggest trying to manually create the file listed in the docs. I've not published this repo for Gentoo to pick it up with other methods.

OK. Cool. If layman is being depreciated, what's it being replaced with? Or just eliminated? Pity if it is being eliminated, it was such a handy tool for dealing with overlays.

I found another git source for the utility I was looking for, so won't be adding this overlay.

No worries. Sorry I wasn't more helpful. If you dont know about 'eix' and 'eix-remote' check that out too (app-portage/eix). Like I said earlier this overlay is not listed in it, tho.
