Big push towards 1.0.0 #25

Did a lot of small updates, tweaks and bugfixes to the framework.

Almost ready for release to 1.0.0. Only things to do remain:

Updating brane-ide so it works again (meaning some crates might need updating here too)
Updating brane-job to use per-workflow transfer proxies.

Getting very close now - I think I essentially want to freeze Brane as-is for release 1.0.0, except maybe that the make downloading is still broken, and the CI/CD scripts are broken too. Maybe we will fix this later and then worry about merging later.
