[x] Merge #87 (Must probably be ran again after the previous merges, hence the draft PR)
[x] Fix macOS build
[x] Squash commits

@lut99, feel free to review. A lot of the points I had postponed were not that much work to integrate so it should also do all the stuff checked off in #77

I also removed coverage checking as it is broken and I don't think it is of much use as long with our coverage levels
