@mdavidsaver , the idea is to change all separators for .db and .templates to e.g. $(S=:), it should not affect anyone's naming convention but allow everyone else to have a different standard. It is a draft for eventual feedback as finding all of those separators will take time.

nsls2-* files will be omitted in this PR. If requested, I will manage it later.
