epiforecasts / covidregionaldata

An interface to subnational and national level COVID-19 data. For all countries supported, this includes a daily time-series of cases. Wherever available we also provide data on deaths, hospitalisations, and tests. National level data is also supported using a range of data sources as well as linelist data and links to intervention data sets.

Hexstickers #274

People love them (me included) and it would be neat to have. I have previously rolled ones using Hexsticker but I am sure there are better options.

Example of my previous shoddy work: https://github.com/seabbs/getTBinR/blob/master/inst/scripts/generate_hex_sticker.R

Oooo, exciting!

I've been trying to think of an appropriate graph or image to use - I think finding some CC SVG image of a coronavirus, or possibly work with waffle for pictograms of a virus, hospital beds... ? Or perhaps an image generated which could emphasize the regional data available, so working from the German, Mexican, Lithuanian maps?

I'm not going to start trying to make these yet but am throwing out ideas.

I like the ideas of using the maps as it really emphasis the use of the package whilst being fairly easy to do.....

Thinking more about this we could use the nice supported regions map added in #377 by @joseph-palmer ?
