Mag Value in logfile #43

Read mag value from the microscope and then put through the lookup table?

# magnification:           0      x    #MagValue in imaging mode?
# detector distance:       0      mm   #MagValue in diffraction mode?

Question:

How ofter would these change? Should we read from the microscope at the end of a dataset?

As far as I now, the TEM must be in imaging mode to get MAG and in diffraction mode to get detector distance. I.e., in order to get MAG at end of data collection, one would need to switch to MAG mode to get the value. If it could be avoided, it would be better. I would prefer to poll the state of the TEM every second (whether DIFF mode and MAG mode) and update the respective value. The will hardly change more frequently than every second.
