Currently symmetries are marked by triangles identical in every way except for color. This too violates the principle of using additional cues other than color to convey meaning.
Fixing this should be as simple as adding a method to modify the vertices generated based upon the type of symmetry.
Texturing them may also provide another option for providing display variation between the types, however I'm hesitant to load yet another texture. This one would be more complicated to make
