1.3.13 - Data from previous versions lost. #143

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have a previous version of TimeTracker on the Mac with project data.
2. Load TimeTracker and when prompted to update, update it.
3. After the upgrade observe that all prior project data is gone.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see my data still present, or, be warned about data loss.
Instead I see no projects and no prior data.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Intel
or PPC computer?
1.3.13 on Mavericks on an Intel Mac.

Please provide any additional information below.
Nothing else. But any help appreciated, my finace is a freelancer and was
recording some client time with this app, and with the upgrade she has lost all
her records so is very sad-fase. :<

You are the first one to report such an issue, can you please check the
data.plist file (see FAQ where it is located).
Which version were you upgrading from?

Hi there, thanks for the reply. We already followed the FAQ steps and the
data.plist is in the new location (/Library/Application
Support/TimeTracker/data.plist) and there is also two files present in
/Library/Preferences/ a com.slooz.timetracker.plist and a
com.slooz.timetracker.plist.lockfile I believe.

Also to add we are unsure what version we were upgrading from I'm afraid.

do you happen to have a backup of the new data.plist? Otherwise you can try and
send me the 2 plist files and I can see if I can do anything, however, if OSX
cannot read them back the chances are not too good.

Hi there, I have both the plist files, can you send me your e-mail address and
I can forward them to you. Thanks!
