We currently have no direct support for http witsml servers as it is not secure. But we do have documentation on how to enable this by altering the code. See enable http.
That documentation is fine for companies that has their own internal setup with their own build process, but changing the code is not as easy for the desktop edition users.
I suggest that http servers should be disabled by default, BUT with the option to alter the config to enable it.
For normal setup, this should include adding a variable 'enableHttp' to for example to appsettings.json or any of the alias files.
For the desktop edition, this should include adding the 'enableHttp' variable to the config file that is available after the desktop edition installation is complete.
Requirements:
[ ] Ability to enable http from appsettings.json or any alias file.
[ ] Ability to enable http from the config file available in WEx Desktop.
[ ] Added documentation on how to enable http with the new configs.
[ ] Proper warning in the documentation as using http is not secure.
