I'll release new version of gem with your change soon but I'll have to do important refactor. Currently the core use ORM adapter which is super depricated by now https://github.com/ianwhite/orm_adapter (6 years last change :( ) I'll introduce direct Active Record support and realease version 2 of the public_uid gem (as that is breaking change)
