Widows message: arduino.exe has stopped working #75

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.double click arduino.exe
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
IDE startup

What version of the Arduino software are you using? 16
On what operating
system? Widows Vista 64 bit
  Which Arduino board are you using?
Duemilanove

Running the run.bat file rather than the arduino.exe file is a workaround for 
this
problem.  I should have read the troubleshooting guide more carefully.
