This is a broader issue than stated above. Tabs are always repeated in sketch
windows and the status line below the edit window is duplicated as well.

I'm not sure if this is coincidence or if this corrected the problem.
I've had this issue since I started using the application about 2 days ago.
Today
when I logged onto my PC I noticed that I had a Java update available. I just
upgraded to Java Version 6 Update 15 and reloaded the Arduino application and it
seems to have resolved the issue.

I had the same problem with Arduno 017 on Windows 7 RC1. I reinstalled arduino
016,
which worked, then copied the java subdirectory from arduino 017 into the java
subdirectory under arduino 016, and the problem came back. So it is something
to do
with the bundled JRE in arduino 017, but it must only affect particular systems
as I
have used Arduino 017 on another system without issues.
The system JRE is 1.6.0_14, and if I copy the contents of this JRE (from C:\Program
Files\Java\jre6) to c:\arduino\java this fixes the problem in Arduino 017.

Windows Vista Home Edition, Arduino 0017, updated Java like other posts.
The tabs and toolbar are shown 4 times at the top instead of only once each. The
extra toolbars and tabs are inserted to the right of the real ones.
When scrolling over a button on any toolbar, it is highlighted on the other
toolbars too.
When first opening up a sketch, the toolbar is actually not there an one needs
to
scroll over the area where it should be to make it appear.
This bug did not happen in the earlier uses of the software, but after about 10
times
of use it appeared.
It has also occurred when opening up a sketch, the code is repeated in a similar
fashion below. Most often this does not happen, only once or twice.
*Sometimes* the problem is resolved when one restarts the software. This is most
likely because of some other reason, not directly restarting, such as
restarting the
computer or doing some other undiscovered action before starting the software
again.

I just copied a newer java update JRE over the java folder that came with
Arduino
0017, and the problem went away.

I've seen this on my notebook, along with a lot of other graphical problems
with
arduino. And it's not just Arduino, graphics are sometimes corrupted in any
java
app, and in some other programs, Adobe Reader among them. And I am almost sure
that
the bug is in nVidia GeForce driver I got via Windows Update. Installing
another
(OLDER) version of the driver fixed the problem.
PS. OS = Windows 7 Professional, Arduino 0017
PPS. Actually, I went back to the buggy driver since it works faster! And, I
can't
find the genuine driver, it seems that it doesn't even exist.

I have this same problem with arduino-0021 and JRE 6.22. Removing the java
folder or copying the system java folder into the arduino folder does not help.
All posts I see about this problem are 2009 or early 2010. Do people not have
this problem any more?
(It can't be an nvidia driver for me because I have an ATI 5870 card.)

This seems like a bug in Java or video drivers, not in the Arduino software.
