Hi,

I've watched your video, but I'm entirely new to reaper. Your plugin is exactly what I've been looking for for practicing my rudiments, I've installed MT Power drumkit VST, but I've been clicking around in reaper and I'm not getting anywhere.

Hi! I'm glad you're interested in this.

There are basically two simple steps:

1) You need a to have a track with an FX list which includes: (1) Midi Rhythm Trainer (2) Your drumkit VST It must be in this order

2) You must press the big "play" button - Midi Rhythm Trainer is keeping time only when Reaper is playing, otherwise it will simply let all notes through (to the next VST) and will appear to do nothing.

At which stage are you exactly?

cheers Eran

I've done

Previously that would get me to 0:54 in the video, but now the VST and the plugin appear in separate floating windows.

Hi emilio. The problem is that you put them on seperate tracks. After adding the drums - you should press the track's FX button, and then add the midi rhythm trainer above the drums cat

  • New project
  • Insert -> Virtual instrument on new track
  • Select the MT-PowerDrumKit, allow it to build the routing
  • Insert -> Virtual instrument on new track
  • Select the MIDI Rhythm trainer

Ah I see. I'm now at https://imgur.com/a/XgXEGtt -- if I understand correctly, I can now play around with the rhythm grid to set the allowed boundaries, press play, and I'm good to go?

erangithub commented 3 years ago

This looks right to me. Let me know if it works for you

I got it working! How do I adjust the bpm? It's waaaaay too fast for me in the default setup.

The yellow line also frequently stops and then jumps ahead - I'm on a 2018 macbook pro, this should be able to run it ok I think?

erangithub commented 3 years ago

You should set the tempo of your project. The yellow line would only jump if the loop button is on and the number of beats of your pattern does not divide the number of beats in your loop. By default this should not happen. Macbook pro 2018 should be more than enough. Just let it play indefinitely without looping such that the time always moves forward

Sorry for these questions man -- really new to this. I'll look for the tempo, but WRT the yellow line, to be precise, the yellow line in the main window runs smoothly, but in the plugin it stops then skips ahead.

erangithub commented 3 years ago

Could you post a screenshot of your reaper main window?
