Validation error on K. 1241 #12

Closed ajaniak closed 4 years ago

ajaniak commented 4 years ago

Dear @chhomkunthea,

there is a validation issue on this file because of <mra> identified as a tag:

<lb n="12"/><gap reason="lost" quantity="4" unit="character"/> bhay· moya knap· mā<unclear>s·</unclear> moya ta vraḥ ka<mra>tāṅ· qañ· ge hvatta nā

Do you need my help to settle this?

Best,

chhomkunthea commented 4 years ago

Dear Axelle,

I think it is like K. 1238, i.e. we should apply mra. I4s already corrected.

Best, Kunthea

Don’t you think it should rather be supplied reason omitted, Kunthea ? (I’m writing without the edition at hand.)

Dear Arlo,

If I’m not mistaken, in the convention, the sign <> means the elements erased in medieval time as stated:

.<…> Entourent des éléments graphiques annulés par le lapicide.

By the way, I’m struggling in pulling the folder TFC-Khmer-epigraphy. I have the message below:

Last login: Thu Apr 9 11:07:19 on ttys000 MacBook-Air-de-CHHOM:~ kunthea$ cd Documents/GIT/tfc-khmer-epigraphy-master/ MacBook-Air-de-CHHOM:tfc-khmer-epigraphy-master kunthea$ git pull There is no tracking information for the current branch. Please specify which branch you want to merge with. See git-pull(1) for details.

git pull <remote> <branch>

If you wish to set tracking information for this branch you can do so with:

git branch --set-upstream-to=origin/<branch> master

MacBook-Air-de-CHHOM:tfc-khmer-epigraphy-master kunthea$

Can you please help me how to fix the problem? I am about to write to Axelle for help.

Best, Kunthea

Kunthea:

  1. Whether you answer by email or through the github website, everyone to whom this issue is assigned will receive every message. This includes Axelle, so no need to write to her separately about your GIT problem. (Could the source of the problem be that you have done cd Documents/GIT/tfc-khmer-epigraphy-master/ instead of kunthea$ cd Documents/GIT/tfc-khmer-epigraphy ?)

  2. Regarding the philological problem in line 12, which caused the encoding/validation problem, you are right that <...> normally has that meaning, but it is unimaginable that the scribe intended to change a correct kamratāṅ· to a wrong katāṅ·. When something like this happens, you should stop and think, and try to understand what has happened. You should not encode like a robot but use your intellectual capacities!

  3. I have checked the estampage n. 1707 (see picture attached) and the problem is as follows: the e-text K1241.txt wrongly shows <mra>: in CIK conventions, it should have been +mra+.

  4. The encoding should be <add place="above">mra</add>. Please also correct the e-text on this point: katāṅ· --> ka+mra+tāṅ·.

Dear Arlo,

That’s great. I don’t need to write to Axelle about that.

About the K. 1241, I have not checked with the estampage. Thank you so much for sharing it. I’ve corrected both in txt and xml files of K. 1241.

Best, Kunthea
