Planning the "Closing" Conference for Releven

As we prepare to organize the closing conference for Releven, there are several key areas that need discussion. Below are the topics that require attention and input from the team. Feel free to add any extra points that needs to be adressed.

1.Audience

• The number of participants.
• Who should be the attendees?
• A hybrid event?

2. Budget

• Budget allocation for venue rental, catering service, travel and acc expenses of speakers

3. Program

• Agenda for keynote speakers, presentations and panel discussions, networking sessions

5. Promotion and Collab

• Creating a poster for the event
• Collab with DH and Byzantine dept for joint promotion?

Initial planning

Participants

• 5 thematic sessions: Armenia, Byzantine, Central Europe, Italy and Digital. 2 panels for each thematic session.
• 4 papers (3 junior or senior scholars)
• possibly a hybrid event. -total of 12 ppl to be invited.

Budget

• 10.000 (tbd)
• conference on the Hauptgebäude (Alte Kapelle or Aula) -Beginning of September - possibly from Thursday to Saturday (tbd after we get confirmation from event managers)

Program

• Congress Service is providing badges, poster designs, totebags, pens, notebooks etc.

Conference Description

I received responses from the invited speakers of my sessions. Mária Vargha is attending the annual meeting of EAA in Belgrade, 3-6 September 2025; she could join us online but would have limited time to follow our program. Christian Raffensperger gladly accepted the invitation, and is waiting for the further steps. Monica White accepted the invitation but asked if she could also include the 12th century due to the scarce evidence for 11th-century Rus'. None of them has proposed precise paper topics yet.
