VoC Sensor Details #5

Closed erebuslabs closed 9 years ago

erebuslabs commented 9 years ago

Team is looking for details surrounding the VOCs to detect as well as sensor type:

  1. What exactly are we looking for (compounds, gases, etc. ) with the VOC sensor?
  2. Do you have a specific sensor in mind?
  3. What are you anticipating the use case for the VOC to be? (enclosure, in the ground, on the ground, etc)
erebuslabs commented 9 years ago
  1. Looking for gases.
  2. The cost effective solutions is any one of the 2600 Figaro parts such as the 2620
  3. Use case - the entire system would likely, ultimately, sit inside an enclosure with a forced air intake (beyond current project scope).

Great I will look into these, their associated circuits, outputs and sourcing, I will look into it but off the top: are they only available through figaro or are they simply the mfg?

eulerworks commented 9 years ago

...and which gases? Methane? O2? CO2?

erebuslabs commented 9 years ago

Let's go with Methane with a backup of CO2 (if that's not feasible). Also since the Figaro's might be hard to come across in short time spans - you can also consider Parralax sensors available from digikey.

How is the acquisition of sensors going? Need any additional help from my end?

eulerworks commented 9 years ago

We do not currently have a VOC picked out, we have designed the sensor boards around "any" analog type sensor so the VOC would just be dropped/soldered in, then the values handled in software. If you would like to have us implement one specifically could you order at least 2 and have them sent to PSU c/o Dr. Zurk?

Here is the tracking link Should be delivered to the university today (from there don't know how long it will take to get into Dr. Zurk's hands)

Great, thank you. Looks like they were delivered today.
