Budget Questions #6

  1. How would you like us to pay for parts/boards being fabbed?
  2. Do we have a specific budget for this prototype? If so, what does it include?

  1. If you're going externally - I suggest creating a login that you don't mind sharing, add the elements to a cart and sending me the info. If you're having them somehow fabbed internally?? Just provide an invoice and/or contact info to me and I can pay for it (or if you want to swing it let me know and I'll send you check OR use google pay/ paypal/whatever you want to get money in your hands asap).
  2. Specific budget - well no - do you have a ballpark?

We will have our BOM together for tomorrow's meeting. I will create accounts for digikey and mouser, with a universal login email for the project.

The board will be sent to OSHpark, we have used them before and have a quality product with (relatively) fast turnaround, approx. 2 weeks.

I know Golriz sent the board design off to OSHPark yesterday for fabrication, we will need to get parts to populate them sooner than later. I can put together a cart from the BOM and send it your way.

Gotcha - just let me know how/when you need me to pay for a cart and how/when to reimburse you for the OSHPark order. As with anything - just keep receipts (digital is find) and send them my way.

Hello Mike, I have found our parts in digikey, Mouser and SparkFun. I tried my best to find all in digikey in order to make it more convenient, but not all parts were available. Although we have 6 PCB boards, I have ordered 10 units of each component just in case either the part is broken or we break the part! :)

Also - ~how much is are the boards going to run?

The order was processed Sunday the 22nd, I can fwd the message if needed, there is an order reference/tracking number in the body of the message.

Hi Mike,

We've received the parts from DigiKey and SparkFun; Mouser parts should be delivered maximum by the end of this week (based on the tracking info). Thanks again.

Just one issue with Methane gas sensor; the one that you have ordered it's not the one that we have used in our design, I am using one of Figaro's gas sensor (4pin), while the Methane gas sensor is 6 pin. Sorry for lack of communication in this regard. I have attached the price quotation from Figaro to this email, I'm using TGS2602 model number (1st row in the Figaro Gas Sensor table), would that be possible to order 6 of these and possibly return the DigiKey Methane gas sensors? By the way, we've received 2 gas sensors, is that what we should have expected?

Don't know what happened when I replied to the posts last night - craziness apparently. So i have requests in with Figaro USA (but I'm not holding my breath) - and a vendor out of Hong Kong. I'll know within 24 hours if the HK vendor will pan out - and if so you should have parts within 10 days. The Figaro ones are a minimum of 2 weeks (I've asked about expedited shipping and paypal fees and have yet to hear back). Last year I ended up just using a HK vendor as well.

I'm also going to check my surplus electronics - I may have 1 or 2 sensors left over that I can send to hold you over.

I found a TGS 2600 - which while not exactlyt the same (functionality wise) as the 2602 - it's fundamentally the same except for Carbon Monoxide (smoke) and hydrogen. Would you like me to ship that to you so that you're not blocked on waiting for other sensors?

I've ordered 10 sensors from Figaro - after jumping through some insane hoops - as long as they process the order Monday - the parts should be next day shipped (then extra time for processing at PSU? but by mid-late next week you should have the TGS2602's)

I noticed on the invoice that they missed Dr. Zurk's name (and the shipment is headed to the the ECE Department). I only mention that so that once it's delivered (or before?) you may want to let the office know that an unmarked package from figaro is coming from UPS...
