  1. Are standard AA type batteries alright or do we need a rechargeable for this revision?
erebuslabs commented 9 years ago

Standard AA's are fine - though you may consider AA's that you can recharge externally (easy to swap out at any point).

The batteries more pertain to this initial prototype revision, the power circuit needing only a simpler voltage regulator will keep the cost/board area down. Eventually a charging circuit will be the right option, with a more advanced PMIC and rechargeable, internal battery, such as as Lithium ion

Unless I misunderstood or missed some interim update, I thought we were powering the device externally via the USB port, a la Ras-Pi?

eulerworks commented 9 years ago

@cjn566 yes, during programming, but not for field deployment.

erebuslabs commented 9 years ago

Again remember for prototype development you can stick with a first pass solution - e.g. using a USB port + mintyboost type product (yes increased cost - but remember keep the initial design as simple as possible)

Have you gotten this part sorted out? If so go ahead and post an update with the route you've decided on and go ahead and close this issue up!

For this revision we will simply be using batteries, (rechargeable or disposable) in the future a more elaborate charging system can be added or implemented based on our findings from this one.

Sounds good - I'll close this up.
