Mortality following primary THA is a rare outcome, would be more important to demonstrate predictive strength for pertinent THA related complications such as readmission, reoperation, dislocation, wound complications, length of stay, discharge to home, patient-reported outcomes.

Review: We agree and have added a discussion on line XXX, were we also explain that we plan to study prosthetic joint infectiopns and dislocations as next step.

It should be noted that short-term mortality after elective THA is rare. As such, it might not be the most immediate issue for patients making an informed decision on whether to operate or not. Other pertinent outcomes includes adverse events after surgery such as prosthetic joint infections or dislocation. Our next step is therefore to extend the web calculator to such events as well.
