I took a quick look into it, and Safari 5 has some weirdness with the HTML5 file APIs...it appears they fixed that and went with the more standardized version in Safari 6, which I'm assuming is not available on the version of OS X you're on :\
The crappy part about all of this is that I don't have access to a copy of Safari 5 to test this out on. From what I'm seeing so far, it may take a little bit of debugging and head banging to get it working. But! If I can get my hands on a machine with Safari 5 for a few hours in the near future I'll be sure to look into this some more.
I'll leave the issue open, since I hope to resolve it.
Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it, I'm glad excel2latex has been helpful! Sorry about not being able to resolve this immediately :\
Eric,
Fastest response I ever got!

No need, for my sake.

Lucky for you I just found this :) http://michelf.ca/projects/multi-safari/
So hopefully I'll be able to fix this up in the next few days!
Edit: crap, they won't run on the latest version of OS X :(
Mac OS 10.6.8, .xlsx files --- I drag one to your page, nothing happens---if I use Safari 5.1.9.
But it works fine in FireFox 23.0.1!
(You're right, there is no way to get those plug-in add-ins to work.)
Thank you for this neat program!
