permit storing start and time values as pulse triples. possible syntaxes:
startOffsetPulseTriple, endOffsetPulseTriple
startOffsetPulseTriple, durationPulseTriple
resolved values in seconds will need to come from the global tempo, or the
texture's tempo. global tempo is probably the best choice.
