Zabbix SMS #5

Open empangilinan opened 1 year ago

empangilinan commented 1 year ago

The sms were able to sent. However, we are receiving a multiple SMSES. For example the alert is only 1. Problem started(Operation) and Problem Resolved (Recovery). When the SMS sent. we got about 9 Problem Started and 9 Problem Resolved. Something like that.

What do you think is the issue? or should i use twilio-alert.sh instead of twilio-alert-escalate.sh? Thanks!

Here is the media types image

ericallenpaul commented 1 year ago

If you got 9 instead of one I would double check your media setup. What do the action logs show in Zabbix?

ericallenpaul commented 1 year ago

You would have to alter the script to make that work.

empangilinan commented 1 year ago

Also, is it ok to use the twilio messaging sid on CALLERID = "messaging sid"? Thank you

ericallenpaul commented 1 year ago

From the audit log it looks like Zabbix is being triggered twice

What do you think is the issue? or should i use twilio-alert.sh instead of twilio-alert-escalate.sh? Thanks!

Here is the media types image

I woukld remove the "send to group" and just make it focus on sending the twillio message.

ericallenpaul commented 1 year ago

I can't explain that. Twillio has been mostly dependable but it's possible that it didn't send the message?

I don't have any samples for that. You would have to change the code to wrap a "for" statement around the command that sends the sms.

So this:

if [ "$UseWeeklySchedule" -eq 1 ]; then PHONENUMBER=$(cat $PHONEFILE) else PHONENUMBER="$OnCallNumber" fi

Would have to create an array of numbers. An this would have to be wrapped in a for statement:

echo "$1" | $DIRECTORY/twilio-sms.sh -c $DIRECTORY/twilio-sms.conf $PHONENUMBER

Its kind of a breaking change to the way it was designed to work. You might be better off making multiple copies of the scripts and then adding multiple media types and actions.

2 scripts that attached to media types image

My 2 scripts on Media types. whenever i tried to test it. they are sending SMSs image

empangilinan commented 1 year ago

One more thing. how can we filter only critical alerts on SMS? is it thru media type?

here is my curent script parameters. We are receiving all alerts.

image

ericallenpaul commented 1 year ago

You should be able to add a rule that will only send critical. I think its under actions?

Looks like Twilio did not understand the request so it returned a 400 message. Something about the request was wrong. This relies on Twilio's shell script (https://www.twilio.com/labs/bash/sms) which forms the http request. [https://www.twilio.com/packages/labs/img/structural/beaker.gif1zB]https://www.twilio.com/labs/bash/sms Twilio Labshttps://www.twilio.com/labs/bash/sms Send a Twilio SMS from the Shell. The twilio-sms bash script will send an SMS to one or more phone numbers provided on the command line, using content read from STDIN! It can practically be used as a drop-in replacement for mail in some instances. The script can read configuration parameters, such as your Twilio AccountSid, AuthToken and CallerID from the command line, or more preferably from ... www.twilio.com

@Epangilinangt: If you haven't updated the script lately, grab the latest version. Twilio's endpoint URL changed a while back. See this pull request for details: #7

Epangilinangt commented 11 months ago

Thanks! it's working now. but it is sending through Viber apps, is there a way to send it via SMS? Thanks @keithlammers @ericallenpaul

keithlammers commented 11 months ago

No idea why that would be happening, mine come via SMS. Maybe your Viber app is setup to act as the default SMS client on the phone?

The error message seems to indicate the URL used in the API is not authorized. That is typically what 401 means. I checked to see if the curl command in the twilio-sms.sh file is correct, and it is. It hasn't changed and is still shown in examples on their website: https://www.twilio.com/docs/messaging/tutorials/how-to-send-sms-messages-bash-command-line How to Use bash or zsh to Send an SMS from a New Twilio Numberhttps://www.twilio.com/docs/messaging/tutorials/how-to-send-sms-messages-bash-command-line We demonstrate using curl and sed in bash to find and purchase a Twilio number. We then use it to send a text message using only the command line. www.twilio.com

This project is really old and I really don't have any plans to update it. I probably should replace it with something better—if I get time.

The error message seems to indicate the URL used in the API is not authorized. That is typically what 401 means. I checked to see if the curl command in the twilio-sms.sh file is correct, and it is. It hasn't changed and is still shown in examples on their website:

https://www.twilio.com/docs/messaging/tutorials/how-to-send-sms-messages-bash-command-line How to Use bash or zsh to Send an SMS from a New Twilio Number<

https://www.twilio.com/docs/messaging/tutorials/how-to-send-sms-messages-bash-command-line>

We demonstrate using curl and sed in bash to find and purchase a Twilio number. We then use it to send a text message using only the command line. www.twilio.com

This project is really old and I really don't have any plans to update it. I probably should replace it with something better—if I get time.

This script is still working for me as of today, so my guess would be that you've got an auth error with Twilio.

Hello @keithlammers , thanks for confirming. Probably i have an issue on my twilio account. The configuration still same on your side? no changes done? Thanks!

keithlammers commented 7 months ago

That's correct, haven't changed anything on my end since this change back in May last year: https://github.com/ericallenpaul/Zabbix-Twilio.sh/pull/7

If you've had your script setup since before May 2023, you should grab the latest version.
